Overview
Ocean State Veterinary Specialists (OSVS) is seeking a seventh internist to join our team. OSVS is a large and busy 24 hour emergency and specialty referral center located in East Greenwich, Rhode Island. The hospital is a 26,000 sq. ft. facility offering referral and emergency services to the RI, eastern CT and southern MA areas. There is no general practice associated with the hospital.
Equipment includes endoscopy, digital radiography, ultrasound, CT, MRI, laparoscopy, fluoroscopy, mechanical ventilation, telemetry, and state-of-the-art monitoring equipment.
Bay State Veterinary Emergency and Specialty Services (BSVESS) is currently a small ER/specialty hospital in Swansea, MA – but we are currently renovating a 36,000sf building which should open in the summer of 2024. The current facility offers full time surgery, internal medicine, and emergency services. The plans for the new building include expanding our specialty services to include radiology, oncology, cardiology, dermatology, ophthalmology, and exotic pet medicine. There will be a linear accelerator and a CT scanner, so medical, surgical, and radiation oncology will be a significant focus of the hospital. This opportunity is ideal for someone who wants to join a young team of specialists and ER doctors and help to grow the hospital while being a part of the development of a positive work culture.
The staff includes specialists in surgery, radiology, emergency/critical care, neurology, oncology, cardiology, ophthalmology, and avian/exotics, as well as a large group of experienced emergency clinicians. There is a separate treatment area for medicine/oncology which provides a spacious area for the internists to work with their day cases. Hospitalized cases stay in the intensive care or treatment areas, where they are monitored overnight by a group of highly trained technicians, supervised by emergency doctors. The hospital places a premium on continuing education. Daily case rounds provide an opportunity for continuous learning. We have in-house education for doctors and technicians, and host referring veterinarians for continuing education forums several times a year. We have a successful internship in place as well as a surgery and emergency/critical care residencies, which helps to promote a didactic atmosphere. The support staff is highly trained and enthusiastic about continuing education. The internists work a rotating schedule, and help to provide ultrasound services when the radiologist is unavailable. We place a premium on collegiality and humor, and are proud of the work environment this has created.Requirements:
Candidate must be a Diplomate of ACVIM OR residency trained, and eligible to sit for certifying exam.
