Compensation

  • Competitive base salary: $60,000 – $100,000

Position Overview

Help develop and maintain a high-quality, efficient, and effective medical team by fostering an environment of trust, teamwork, and accountability. Work in tandem with the Hospital Manager and report directly to the Regional Manager.

Essential Position Functions:

  • Comprehensive Patient Work-Ups: Obtain complete patient histories and perform thorough physical exams.
  • Client Communication and Education: Communicate medical findings and recommendations effectively to pet owners.
  • Diagnostic Procedures & Surgery: Perform appropriate pre-op exams, diagnostics, and surgeries using good techniques.
  • Medical Record Responsibilities: Maintain comprehensive and accurate medical records following AAHA guidelines.
  • Pharmacy Duties: Prescribe and manage medications, including controlled substances.
  • Promotes Teamwork & Staff Efficiency: Support staff and promote a positive, collaborative work environment.
  • Financial Responsibilities: Estimate client invoices accurately and communicate costs clearly.
  • Continuing Education Responsibilities: Share knowledge from CE meetings and assist with staff training.
  • Strategic Focus: Build an understanding of how behaviors impact revenue and participate in marketing efforts.
  • Tactical Focus: Resolve client issues, monitor hospital protocols, and recommend new services.

Qualifications

  • Veterinarian degree (DVM) from an accredited college or university.
  • Current State Veterinary License.
  • DEA registration must be obtained and maintained.
  • Experience overseeing Veterinary Technicians and Assistants.
  • Commitment to continued learning and staff training.

Position Knowledge and Skill Requirements

  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to communicate effectively with all members of the medical and hospital staff.
  • Ability to establish rapport and offer explanations to pet owners.
  • Confidence and reassurance when dealing with pets experiencing severe stress, illness, or pain.
  • Some climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling required.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
