Overview
We are looking for a full-time Veterinarian to see primarily small animal patients, however DVMs with an interest in seeing small mammals, horses, and livestock (cattle, goats, etc) are welcome and encouraged! Our ideal candidate will have at least two years of practice experience, however motivated new or recent graduates will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
Due to our rural setting, we see a wide range of case types and variety of species; including wellness, surgical, urgent and emergent cases for everything from cats and dogs to goats, horses, and cows. You will have the opportunity to gain a lot of experience at our clinic, while being mentored and supported by the staff.
We do not have on-call hours and you can choose whether to see after hours emergencies or to refer to an emergency clinic. We schedule and perform routine surgeries (spay, neuter, growth removals, laceration repair, etc.) and Dentals Monday through Friday. We schedule appointments and allow walk-ins during the week and on Saturdays from 8-1pm.

Hohenwald, Tennessee is approximately 90 minutes southwest of Nashville, and is home to The Elephant Sanctuary – the largest natural-habitat sanctuary for elephants in the United States. Qualifications:
- Veterinarian degree (DVM) from an accredited college or university.
- Current State Veterinary License.
- DEA registration must be obtained and maintained.
- Experience overseeing Veterinary Technicians and Assistants as well as other hospital or practice staff.
- Must demonstrate a desire to continue learning in veterinary care and participate in leading staff training.
Position Knowledge and Skill Requirements:
- Excellent Communication Skills and the ability to communicate effectively, efficiently, and in a timely manner with all members of the Medical and Hospital staff.
- Client communication skills, must be able to elicit information, establish rapport, offer explanations with pet owners.
- Display confidence and reassurance when dealing with pets experiencing severe stress, illness, or pain.
- May include some climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling.
- Some tasks involve the periodic performance of moderately physically demanding work.
- Position does require the ability to lift up to 50 pounds
